COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — On February 6, 2026, the Catholic Military Apostolate of the United States (CMA-US) had the distinct honor of hosting Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, USA (AMS), for a high-level leadership luncheon at Mary’s House, Holy Apostles Catholic Church.
The event served as a vital forum for local leaders from the Colorado Springs Military Apostolate Coalition to provide "SITREP" briefings on their respective ministries, showcasing the vibrant and diverse lay-led efforts supporting service members across the region.
A Coalition of Service
Under the coordination of CMA-US, representatives from nearly a dozen organizations—including Emmaus Journey, Military Spiritual Mentoring, and representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy and Fort Carson—gathered to share their mission updates. The diverse attendance highlighted the growing "umbrella" role of CMA-US in networking disparate lay apostolic efforts into a cohesive community.
Guidance from the Shepherd
Archbishop Broglio provided spiritual reflections to the gathered leaders, offering specific encouragement for the lay apostolates to:
Maintain Momentum: Continue the vital work of supporting the spiritual lives of service members.
Foster Communication: Keep an open line of dialogue with the Archdiocese to ensure local needs are understood.
Pray for Vocations: Continue in steadfast prayer, particularly for an increase in vocations to the priesthood.
Forging a Formal Path Forward
The luncheon also marked a significant step in the maturing relationship between CMA-US and the AMS. Discussions focused on the transition out of the apostolate's initial probationary period and toward a more formal, enduring partnership. The Archbishop expressed enthusiasm for a closer relationship and interest in the forthcoming 10-year strategic vision currently being finalized by the CMA-US board.
"This afternoon was a powerful reminder of the strength of lay missionary disciples," noted the event organizers. "CMA-US is committed to being the house where these missions connect, ensuring every Catholic in uniform has the spiritual support they need."
