WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Board of the Catholic Military Apostolate of the United States (CMA-US) has officially released its 2025–2035 Strategic Plan, a visionary document that outlines the organization's evolution over the next decade. Under the mission to promote Catholic culture and sanctify military life, the plan provides a disciplined framework for supporting the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS).
A Unified Strategy for Spiritual Readiness
The roadmap is built upon five primary Lines of Effort, designed to ensure that the "connective tissue" of lay missionary discipleship remains strong across every military installation:
Grow & Support Local Community: Standardizing the blueprint for vibrant local discipleship and expanding to every major U.S. military hub.
Develop National Level Governance: Transitioning to a professional staff, including the future hiring of an Executive Director to manage daily operations.
Build & Sustain National Programs: Launching core digital tools, small-group initiatives, and national conferences.
Develop Financial Support Capacity: Building a baseline of foundational donors and established funds for National programs such as pilgrimages and vocations.
Foster Stakeholder Relationships: Formalizing our partnership with the AMS and assuming a leadership role within the global coalition of Catholic military nonprofits.
The 2035 End State: A "PCS-Proof" Presence
The ultimate goal of this ten-year mission is to ensure that no Catholic service member has to "pack and unpack" their faith as they move from station to station. By 2035, CMA-US envisions itself as a permanent, self-sustaining national institution providing a ubiquitous presence for all service members. This "PCS-proof" vision includes the establishment of active chapters in strategic domestic and overseas locations, including San Diego, Honolulu, Kaiserslautern (Germany), and Camp Humphreys (South Korea).A Letter to the Faithful
In a letter accompanying the plan, the National Board noted: “Our goal is not merely to exist; rather, it is to build something as disciplined and enduring as the services we represent... ensuring that the spiritual home the faithful of the AMS have found in CMA-US endures for generations.”
